    Waltraud Reiner

    Austrian - born designer/Milliner Waltraud Reiner build on her Fashion degree which she finished in 1976. She trained Millinery in London from 1986 - 1990 with Rose Cory, Milliner to the late Queen Mother. After emigrating to Melbourne/Australia, Waltraud operated her Made to Measure business for several years. Waltraud exhibits widely in Australia, Germany and Austria. Products of her company "Torb and Reiner'' produces works and services which takes her all over the world, including USA, Norway and Europe.

    Waltraud is passionate about teaching and runs classes ranging from weekend Workshops to 4-5 day seminars. She has produced 2 teaching videos. Sculpting with Sinamay and French Flower Making.

    Waltraud also believes that everyone can make a hat and everyone can wear a hat'' It is about empowering women and men '', she says, we have lost a generation of hat weares and do not know anymore what suits us and how to breath life into a hat. Her Motto: ''Put on a hat and let your soul dance!''

    Waltraud's latest venture is Hat Week during 1-7 September annually to celebrate the first week of Spring. Hat Week kicks off with the Melbourne Hat Extravaganza - a 2 day celebration/education of the hat. www.hatextravaganz.com

    Waltraud has also launched the Blue Hat Project. An initiative to promote awareness of depression and anxiety and raise funds for beyondblue: the national depression initiative. The Blue Hat Project was conceived through personal experience of depression and a wish to use the creativity behind hat design as a means of raising awareness of depression in the community. www.bluehatproject.com

    Dottie Moore is a studio quilt artist living in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Since 1980 her award-winning works have been exhibited, collected, and published throughout the world, and commissioned by many individuals, corporations, and hospitals.

    Dottie has been featured in numerous publications including Threads, American Quilter (front cover in addition to article), Art Quilt Magazine, Quilter’s Newsletter, and Traditional Home by Better Homes and Gardens. She is author of the CD book, Lives in Process: Creativity in the Second Fifty Years by Ladybug Press and one of the chapter authors of Midlife Clarity: Epiphanies from Grown-Up Girls by Beyond Words Publishing Company.

    She is passionate about the power of the creative process for transforming lives and is founder of “Piecing a Quilt of Life,” an international project dedicated to empowering senior women by recognizing their creative abilities. Students and audiences for her classes and lectures include visual artists, musicians, writers, storytellers, women’s groups, college students, and quilters.
